duct tape craft

stefan and kai have been watching the documentary mythbusters on the discovery channel.  it's about two special effects experts attempting to debunk urban legends by directly testing them using scientific methods (physics, chemistry, biology) and ingenuity.  it's the perfect combination of science and entertainment.  a show about how much fun science can be gets two thumbs up from me.

mythbusters does come with disclaimers so kids are reminded to not engage in such activities themselves (there tends to be a bit of explosions).  but when kai wanted to try his hand at building something with only duct tape, i let him at it.  he was inspired by the episode that answered the question, if you were abandoned on an island with nothing but duct tape could you survive (i.e. source water, find food, build shelter, and even escape)?

so, if  you are curious about the following and more, tune in:

are elephants really afraid of mice?  if you are being chased by a crocodile, is it better to run in a zigzag?  will playing dead help you survive a shark attack? can you use salami as a rocket fuel?  is finding a needle in a haystack really that hard?  can a secret agent really scuba-dive to a formal party in a tuxedo?  does talking to your plants help them grow?  is it possible to open the door of a sinking car?  etc.

weekend pics will be posted tomorrow, a day late.  i was using my old point and shoot and briefly forgot how to download photos (stefan is away for work).  i'm learning.
