weekend pics, oh christmas tree

our weekend was winter green, chocolate brown, and bright blue all over.

my boys and i took advantage of the clear blue skies and got out of the house (it's been cold here!) to chop down our christmas tree.  kai was fine to leave the choosing of the tree to me but over the moon with being in charge of the chopping of it, with a saw!  he then carried it, all on his own, to the car impressing the folks nearby and himself the most. he was awarded for his hard work with hot apple cider and roasting hot dogs over an open fire.

it was nice to be back at nat bailey stadium for the winter farmer's market... turkey sausage, squash galore, and buttery potatoes followed us home (aka tonight's dinner).  and stefan found a cute wooden ornament to place in my christmas stocking :)  oh, and we swooned over that dog wearing a scarf... so cute.  the market is the best place to bring the camera.

we drank yummy hot chocolate  (albeit a little too chocolaty for me :) from koko monk, a new chocolatier in town.  most of his chocolates have fillings, his specialty.  we tried blue moon which was intensely flavoured with blue cheese and pear; brunette bangle filled with coconut and curry; niagara bells with baileys and coffee; and the musee l'amour was my favourite with pistachio and almond paste.

kai and i visited my friend suji's store bow wow haus to hang out with dogs taking pics with santa. while there we picked up a jingle bells collar for the cats :)  yes, we did.

did you have a sweet weekend too?  filled with christmas music and eating way to many sweets?  i'm blaming the latter on sinterklaus (see this post too, if you like).
