father's day is for lounging, video game playing, drumming and eating a pork chop for two.
kai and i gave stefan the morning to do with as he pleased while i took kai to his mountain biking class. i spent the morning in deep cove - so pretty, peaceful and home to the honey donut as well as room 6 and ahoy. it's a waterfront community with parks and trails and a quaint downtown. i want to go back with my boys to kayak and eat more honey donuts.

car free day is a day people take to the streets to reclaim them. dance, bike, skateboard, stroll, play street hockey, and listen to threadsafe.
stefan, simon, and their instructor dave took to the streets to play some songs. and guys, they sounded even better the second time around. stefan loves banging on those drums making music and has such fun in the process.
kai was able to attend this time and i made him a t-shirt for the event (see pic below). he was proud of his papa telling him, "you are the best drummer." i watched him air drumming along with the music. and, we met up with an old friend, shared some soft serve ice cream dipped in chocolate (the best!), and just had a lovely afternoon.
i think i want to do the whole thing over again next weekend.
and a note from kai to his papa who is and always will be his rock star hero, teacher, and comedian. i hope all of you papas had a lovely father's day.
