stockholm weekend pics 8, early winter

these early winter days have been crisp and invigorating.  and bright!  this is the weather i imagined stockholm in the winter to be like.  i will tolerate freezing temperatures (-7 celsius has been the coldest thus far) for brightness and a dusting of snow.  it just may be the best christmas present i received this holiday.

and now, a few pics of sunny stockholm these last several days...

happy holidays!

warm, happy, cozy holidays!  thank you so much for spending time in this space.  i really appreciate it.  i know that the last few months you have been inundated with alot of family posts and few others but with a little more time on my hands i hope to change that in the new year.  i love creating tiramisu3 for you and me.

enjoy these days... home cooked meals, time for games and puzzles, gingerbread cookies, ella fitzgerald christmas music, quiet reflection, and merry making.  see you back here!

stockholm weekend pics, oh christmas tree!

the christmas tree featured prominently in our weekend...

first there was the skansen christmas market.  it was everything i imagined a swedish xmas market would be.  there was reindeer and other nordic animals to visit.  swedish delicacies to nibble on like herring and mashed potatoes.  there was glogg (mulled wine) and bonfires to keep warm.  saffron buns for a treat.  swedish handicrafts to buy at wooden stalls that lit up the night (it was pitch black by 3:30) creating a cozy feel.  but i didn't count on dancing around the christmas tree!  along with ximena and her sweet family we danced around a christmas tree to silly swedish songs about hanging the laundry, playing the violin, and jumping like a frog.  guys, it was such fun and it kept one warm too.  what a true wonderland.  when in sweden, do visit skansen!

three kiddos exploring the cascading lights... so pretty.
we finally have a christmas tree!  i searched and searched for christams tree farms but no luck.  i have to say i was disappointed, you'd think there would be plenty of choice.  so we settled on a pre-cut tree sold in the quaint squares around the city.  most swedes buy their tree just days before christmas and it was fun to see them walking along the city streets carrying their tree home.  and we did too :-)

time to decorate the tree!
hope you had a lovely weekend too!
