stockholm, bits of our christmas

did you have a merry christmas?  we did.  stefan's parents came to spend the holidays with us.  it was really nice to see them.  kai was super excited too.  he had fun opening his presents and playing with them too.  he thought the deodorant we got him was pretty funny... loved his expression.  kai scored big time this year... stefan gifted him his very first chef's knife and i bought him slippers since he's always stealing mine.  a new gaming mouse (from santa), a sled scooter (a swede thing!), skates (pop-up skating rinks everywhere in the city so they were a must), and an iphone speaker (he loves music), along with some other great things.

we slept in, wore our comfiest clothes, played some games and watched movies.  stefan cooked and cooked and we ate and ate... and ate.   on christmas eve, he put together a smorgasbord of swedish dishes... including herring in curry sauce, mustard sauce, and garlic sauce.  meatballs and smoked salmon.  and a marzipan pig for dessert... who knew i liked marzipan, so good.  christmas day was all about the swedish ham which was accompanied by a beet and apple salad, creamed corn, and my new-to-me favourite,  jansson's temptation, a must-have at christmas swedish potato dish with onions, anchovies, and cream.  cardamon cake for dessert.

and, we skyped with our families too... it was so nice to chat with them and show them around our new abode.
