friday interiors

this house is so good.  i can't even begin to just pick a few things i like, everything is spot on.  the art, the rugs (!), the fixtures (did you see the lighting above the kitchen table and faucets in the bathroom), the furnishings, and that dog.  who wants to move in?

see the before pics here, you'll be amazed at the transformation.

such a skill to organize vignettes just so.

have a lovely weekend.  by the time you read this we will be in or on our way to göteborg (depending which side of the pond you live on).  stefan has a work meeting there, kai plays for his school's soccer team (the scandinavian international baccalaureate schools compete), and i look forward to visiting another part of sweden.

travelogue paris (part 4 of 4)

our last day in paris began at boot cafe, the teeniest café  ever (they often host events that spill out onto the street), in the marais quarter.  i returned to les petits parisiennes which i peeked into earlier in the trip, i couldn't stop thinking about their shoes and bought a pair.  merci is located not far from our hotel and although very pricey it was so lovely to browse. i could have happily lived in there.  more window-shopping ensued before taking the metro to montmartre to visit sacre-coeur.

merci

i am so glad we made time to visit montmartre and sacre-coeur.  it has a distinct village character to it, it could easily be mistaken for a small village in the south of france.  lots of tiny shops, mostly food related on a warren of tiny steep streets.  it was crowded with tourists but it didn't take away from the charm of the place.  the main square was host to artists where we were tempted by many darling paintings.

we ate at le consulat, mussels with fries and more croque monseiur!  le consulat is an old café on one of paris' oldest roads, next door to la bonne franquette, a building over 400 years old which has always run as a hotel.  it was really a wonderful place from which to savour local life.  i only wish we had more time to explore the area thoroughly.

the route up to the sacre-coeur was worth the hike.  we joined the crowd the on the steps and took in the view.  big sigh.

le mur des je t'aime / the wall of love

back in the marais quarter i couldn't help but take stefan and kai to place des vosages, i didn't want them to miss out on this quaint little park.  cafe creme at fragments and dessert savouring ensued before getting into a taxi to the airport.  it was the perfect ending to my paris story.

it was a most wonderful visit to this magical city.  i was wide-eyed the whole time... the architectural marvels around every corner, the perfect macaron, the aroma of stinky cheese, the cute cafés, and the prettiest bridges. (sigh)
