stockholm weekend pics, around town and at home

this was one of the laziest weekends we've had, take a peek.

a walk around the nytorget area of sodermalm usually leads us to grandpa, a favourite neighborhood shop.  we came back home with gorgeous glasses that stefan says will make irish coffee taste all the better.  and the shop next door, in its super tiny space sells lovely plants and flowers... finally greenery in the house :-)

art making in progress, for kai's english class play.

a morning whiled away in bed with kai, chatting and wrestling and chatting some more.  i know my days are numbered hanging out with him like this so i will relish this time as much as i can.

a semla stop at the konditori... semla is a bun flavoured with cardamom and filled with almond paste and cream.  it's incredibly light, not filling at all, and delicious.  it's a seasonal pastry that shows up just after the holidays and will stay in the cafes until easter.  they even have a day devoted to it called fettisdagen (it translates to 'fat tuesday') which is celebrated on Tuesday February 9th this year!

a quick errand in gamla stan, our next door island.  quick because it's freezing outside when you aren't dressed in ski wear! but oh, so beautiful.

boys in the kitchen making shepard's pie for dinner.  anything with potato mash is a kai favourite.

as a toddler, kai loved thomas the train engine.  when he learned that i had his tracks and trains shipped over to stockholm, he got busy... so strange to see 12 year kai with thomas!

hope you had a lovely weekend!
