stockholm weekend pics, värmdö

weekend excursions with my guys, i love them!

beautifully set among pine trees on värmdö in the stockholm archipelago, artipelag is worthy of a visit even if you don't venture inside to visit the art exhibitions. but, do visit their design shop!

do you know the brand bjorn borg?  well, the founder of this company envisioned and built this beautiful art gallery, which nicely integrates with its landscape, sitting on a ridge overlooking the baltic.  although close to the city - a 30 minute drive - it's right in nature in the middle of nowhere.

we, first, visited the rooftop for the view then eagerly walked along the path towards the water, there was something special going on down there.

the saltwater is frozen!  it was so bizarre standing on the baltic sea.  although there were skaters on the ice, it was quiet and huge.  just the noise of skates against the ice and the rumblings of the ocean just below.

we chatted with one of the many skaters who told us that this is the first time in 5 years that the baltic has frozen over.  people, that's how cold it's been here!

we didn't have skates with us but it didn't stop kai from frolicking on the ice.  i'm pretty sure he would have been content to remain right there the entire day.

carrot and pumpkin soup.

snow skirt!  and a cardamom bun!
for lunch, we headed to siggesta gard. the food was gorgeous as always.  especially when eaten in the stunning barn, cozy and rustic.

spitfire liked being rubbed on its nose, just like our cat loki, very sweet.

we happily walked along the paths, the boys had fun on the obstacle course, and we visited the horses once again.

we stayed in siggesta gard last april for a few days and it had me dreaming of moving house to the country, specifically värmdö.  if you like, take a peek here and here.  we also took my in-laws for a day visit in july, take a peek here.

i hope you had a lovely weekend too.
