stockholm weekend pics, långängens gård

it was mother's day on sunday and one of my favourite things to do is discover hidden gems that serve farm to table fare, preferable out in the countryside.

luckily the countryside isn't far from stockholm.  just an hour away - after subway and tram rides - we found ourselves in the middle of lidingö - located in the inner archipelago of stockholm but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.  such a beautiful peaceful place.

we walked down an idyll path towards our destination, långängens gård.  i couldn't decide what was best, that classic falu red cafe, the buffet, the flowers, the 360 degree view of green everywhere.  vacker - wonderful - all of it.

with our plates piled high we settled under a blue sunny sky, a a light breeze in the air, the smell of lilacs.  i zeroed in on the salmon and salad, so good.  then there was that warm apple jam filled donut, right out of the oven... thank goodness they went quick because - i am not ashamed to admit - i did try to get myself seconds.

then we meandered into the forest... it was a lovely way to spend a few hours on mother's day.

hope you had a lovely weekend.
