travelogue: 2 hours in venice

wow, venice really is beautiful.  even the rain couldn't put a damper on our quick visit.  with its picture perfect canals and pastel facades, it's no wonder the city is a favourite with tourists.

our first stop was to find something to eat so we bee-lined it to trattoria da fiore's bar for italian tapas - polpette de carne, breaded sardines, pickled roasted peppers paired with wine.  on the way, we made the obligatory stop on ponte dell'accademia to take in the view.  we meandered along the narrow streets, ducking into a few shops along the way, towards piazza san marco.  we arrived to find it pretty empty which was kind of surreal.  but the pigeons were there and waiting much to kai's amusement.

here are some of the scenes of our sweet little visit:

oh, venice!  after just two hours in your company, we knew right away that we'd have to return to spend more time -  hopefully sooner than later.
