while stefan was away, kai and i spent time with ximena, petter and their girlies. as soon as we arrived the kiddos were already off to frolic in the water. they tell us they had a blast in the freezing sea. by the time we hiked out to see them - the adults enjoyed some lazy patio time in the sun and then engaged in the serious business of making apple pie - they were already changed and ready to head back but i managed a few shots of them...
we whipped up some mojitos, the perfect summer afternoon drink. ximena had the idea to sprinkle powered sugar on the mint leaves for some prettiness. with their neighbours visiting, our little gathering turned into a party. we enjoyed a watermelon and feta salad, a potato dish, halloumi always makes a presence (i think it's a swedish thing) and there was grilling and wine and apple pie too. the swedes serve their pie with vanilla cream, so good!
we sat under a starry sky as the day turned to night. with the last bus home only minutes away we slept over and awoke to a pancake breakfast thanks to the youngest of the bunch. and i was even sent home with a gift, a cutting from one of ximena's many plants. but before we headed home, kai and the girls had a bit of time for trampoline fun.
september summers are the best!
