a day trip, grisslehamn

in between christmas and new years, we rented a volvo for a couple of days to explore a little futher a field.  we didn't really have a plan, deciding where to go late at night the day before, then getting in the car with fingers crossed that we can drive out of stockholm without problems - we can never seem to do it!

we headed north along the coast towards grisslehamn, a teeny town with a gorgeous coastline.  we started our day late with only a couple of hours of daylight to enjoy, i knew i wanted to see the albert enstoms museum, a swedish artist and author who produced some satirical work (kai just finished a unit in english class on satire and i thought it would be interesting for him).

the museum was closed - like most things during the swedish winter - but a walk out to the rocky coast revealed the picturesque atelje... an isolated artist studio perched on the grey rocks beside the sea (photo above and the three below).

and kai?  well, he ran off into the forest...

with the sun about to set, we decided it was time for a bite to eat only to discover that grisslehamn really is teeny and the main hotel we hoped to eat at wasn't serving food (although i wish we visited their website for information, ha!)

after driving towards home, we came across enblad, a boutique selling jewlery, clothing and home furnishings but most importantly, it had a cafe attached!  we settled down to eat and even managed to do a bit of shopping - although i am still thinking about that pillow that got away :)

next up, driving south towards trosa!
