stockholm weekend pics, carl eldhs ateljémuseum

stockholm is filled to the brim with museums, so many.  and in the mix are some hidden gems like the carl eldhs ateljémuseum.  visits include a guide and then some time to look around on your own.

i loved it.

carl eldhs is a well known swedish sculptor and the museum is actually the studio in which he made his works of art.  high ceilings with lots of light.  it was pretty lovely.  the guide was filled with bits of facts and i especially enjoyed hearing about carl's process in creating his works and the need for a contemplation room.  the studio was designed to have three spaces; a work space, a storage space and a contemplation space.

a contemplation space, don't you love the sound of that?

apparently, such a room is necessary if you want to become an expert at something you love doing, it's not just about the (10,000) hours.

snickarbacken 7 is a great place for lunch and fika.  we walked over there, in the sunshine and warmth; it really felt like spring.  my fennel and carrot salad was delicious!  the boys ate pastries, of course :)  and the space is lovely, once horse stables, cavernous with white walls and tall arches.

afterwards, on our way home, we stumbled upon one of carl eldh's sculptures!

hope you  had a lovely spring weekend!
