hägerstalunds bibi house + hanstaskogen

when you are exploring with friends, it's a lovely experience.  we were 7 travelling an hour to get to our destination,  once there we ate well, talked of travel and teens and enjoyed the laughter of the kiddos through the trees.

you know how much we love discovering farm cafes around stockholm and beyond...  on the may 1st holiday, we found a most unusual restaurant in the hansta nature forest serving moroccan dishes from tagines to dips such as tabbouli and hummus and char-grilled meats all washed down with mint tea.  hägerstalunds bibi house's interior is early 19th century but i loved it... colourful murals on the ceiling, glass chandeliers, plush sofas and lots of faux gold. it made for a lovely atmosphere and the food was good :)

with bellies full, we ventured outdoors to walk the nature reserve...

the hansta nature reserve is beautiful (my pics don't do it justice).  we were lucky enough to be there in may when large carpets of bluebells and wood anemones cover the area as far as the eye could see.  and standing amongst the flowers are large centuries-old oak trees, gnarly and majestic.

the area is also home to (protected) burial grounds from the viking age, rune stones (we only found one), stone beads and settlements.  it was very cool.

starting a band :)

we can't wait to visit this magical forest again and again.
