värmdö on a holiday thursday

you certainly don't need at car to venture to the värmdö area but we wanted to visit a few favourite places and a car makes it easier and more time efficient.

our first stop on this may thursday was the artipelag.  a stunning museum by the water displaying a still life exhibition with works by morandi, an italian painter and edmund de waal, a potter and writer who was inspired by morandi.  i loved the peacefulness of the exhibition, the old and the new.  and there was space to write, to write about an object that is sentimental, an object if we could, tuck into our pocket and carry with us.  we each wrote our story.

then we drove to siggestra gård for lunch which is always good thanks to their use of local ingredients.  after lunch we strolled the grounds, playing soccer golf and walking the trails.

and finally, we took two car ferries - the shortest ferry rides ever, under five minutes each - to vaxholm where we hoped to while away the evening.  but the weather had other plans, rain poured down and our evening was cut short.

but it didn't dampen our day.  being out and about with my boys with no distractions, we make the most of it.  and i love how kai is totally ok to hang out with us, he is such a happy boy :)

weekday holidays are pretty nice!
