stockholm pics, graffiti exhibition

after hearing about this graffiti exhibition, i thought it would make a perfect outing with kai.  located off the beaten track in a run-down industrial area in southern stockholm, the open-air exhibition is open year round and well worth the visit.

every year, swedish and international artists are invited to paint murals... thanks to the landowners who gave permission that the dilapitated walls to be painted over.

and, i love that he was game to pose in front of the walls for some pictures :)

hope you had a good weekend!

fjäderholmarna island, a lunch date

a midweek lunch date with anouk, to take advantage of the shining sun as we are all too aware that darkness will soon be upon us.  and, of course, to spend time together while we have the time.  living an expat life, we don't always know when the friends we make will leave... i have my fingers crossed that this one will stick around for awhile.

we took a boat to fjäderholmarna island (same cute little island i went to with stefan and kai for a weekday dinner, take a peek), had a fabulous lunch at the fjäderholmarna krog, bought chocolate for my guys, and enjoyed the company.

in the meantime, both our teens were 'missing' us, sending us texts wondering what on earth we were doing on the island instead of home waiting for their arrival from school :)  moms can have some fun and relaxing times too!

so grateful for places like fjäderholmarna and friends like anouk who always has a listening ear at the ready, is kind, and always wears the perfect outfit, xo.

this dress had the perfect swing :)

stockholm weekend pics, långängens gård

långängens gård, surrounded by nature reserves, a grave field from the late iron age, and some horses too. it's a great outing for a weekend day, so idyll. we visited once before on mother's day (take a peek, kai is so much smaller!) but this time we chose to bike out there. it took us just over an hour under the threat rain but thankfully only a few drops fell.

the food was great; meatballs with mash and lingonberries for kai, a burger for stefan and asparagus soup for me with really nice bread (apparently the yeast used in sweden is considered the best).

some shenanigans with a ball took place before we visited the horses. stefan was electrocuted and kai almost was when the horse pulled him forward - he really wanted the grass kai was offering!

i am so glad we took the chance with the rain; it was a lovely afternoon, långängens gård is such an idyll spot... just look at it...

hope you had a lovely weekend too.
