school break at home...

lazy cats were shooed away so kai and i could wrestle (i usually win, shhh, don't say i told)
there was a lot of doing nothing the first few days of the school break... take a peek:

baking vegan chocolate chip cookies, recipe from minimalist baker

lounging with his favourite cat (and watching new girl in that same spot with the same cat)

stefan outdid himself with this bacon wrapped chicken!

sharpening all the pencil crayons with our new super duper sharpener
not shown... a trip to the mall of scandinavian, renewing our identity cards (since we've been here way longer than intended) and seeing planet earth live in concert...

we then boarded a plane to the pyrenees! can't wait to show you pictures :)

stockholm weekend pics, häringe slott

we went to the country - just over an hour south from stockholm - to fika in a slott...

the day was gorgeous, a blue sky and shining sun. it was also very cold; the weather hasn't changed in weeks, freezing temperatures day after day.

häringe slott was a lovely surprise.

the buffet laid out in the library, which began with a glass of champagne, was so good that we decided to keep eating and postpone our sunday whole chicken dinner until monday.  nothing makes me happier than a good meal. take a peek at the brunch menu here.

we took our tea and desserts upstairs in the lounge. six parlour rooms to choose from... and some with joseph frank fabrics!  mini carrot cake, chocolate cake, crème brûlée, and mousse were devoured while playing dominoes.  then we retreated to the billards room :)

we roamed the grounds in the biting wind. we thought that we must return during the summer and perhaps stay a night to enjoy the pool, brunch on the terrace and feed the ducks.

my pictures don't do this place justice, visit their instagram account... don't be surprised if you race over to visit. i highly recommend it.

here's a little excerpt from the website:

"the palace was built in 1657, and has had many eccentric owners since.  each owner influenced the property to meet their fancy, usually by investing large sums in outlandish and avant-garde projects.  like for example building sweden's very first olympic sized outdoor pool, constructing a water slide from the upper floor into the pool, or digging an underground tunnel between buildings to avoid the perils of a rainy day.  on the upper floor of the palace, you'll discover a gothic room made out of wooden panels that were smuggled to sweden from mary, the queen of scot's castle in scotland, there's also a dungeon where the delinquent were punished in the basement, a golden bathroom upstairs, and ancient and superbly functioning mechanical bowling alley, and a state of the art kitchen that prepares the most delightful slow food."

hope you had a lovely weekend too... without the freezing temperatures.

friday interiors, rugs!

it's the cozy thing.  i love how antique rugs bring so much texture and warmth to a space.  i really love their history, to imagine where they have been... probably in some great big beautiful home.

i am so tempted by these rugs from oddbird.... i already know where in my space they will go!
