stockholm with melanie and family

we were so happy to have melanie and family visiting us in stockholm. we love stockholm and were soooo excited to show the them around, happily playing tourists alongside them.

really though, we just hung out in our favourite spots. no plans except to wander and fika and visit some shops. stikkinikki was the first on the list. we even grocery shopped at the coop :)

a visit to djurgården was a must and in particular, lunch at rosendals trädgårds. it made me happy to share my favourite place with them. we ate, relaxed in the sun and chatted.

we walked in the park and stopped by the prins eugens waldemarsudde museum with its lovely views from the garden. the art gallery, the home of prince eugene, has well perserved rooms, swedish artists featured from the 18th and 19th century, and the prince's own work is on display too.

elsewhere, the kiddos were enjoying gröna lund... stockholm's little amusement park.

gröna lund

after djurgården, we hopped onto the tram to snikarbacken 7, a favourite fika spot downtown. the girls met up with us while the boys stayed on at gröna lund to ride the roller coasters.

they rented an apartment in gamla stan so they were already right in the action. we wandered up and down the cobble-stoned streets, stopped for fika and souvenirs were bought.

we spent time in hammarby sjöstad, our new neighbourgood too. it's a free ferry ride over... everytime i take it, for just a moment, i think i am on holiday :)

the boys and i enjoyed a vegan lunch at ringen teatern... according to ruben, the best hamburgar he's eaten.  stefan, craig and mel went for a run along the water.  we dined at nya carnegiebryggeriet the brewery around the corner from us, it serves swedish favourites eaten by the water and hot balloons over head.

next up, we all went to the swedish countryside...
