stockholm weekend pics, camping with ximena
a very good weekend hanging out by the river, cooking, eating, swimming, and drinking homemade sangria.
everything is always so much better when done while camping; soaking up the special atmosphere of the forest and its calming effects.
tents nestled on a hill with a view of the river.
the water invites you in and then you stay long after your skin is all wrinkled. you pay attention to the trees, all their different shades, and textures.
the simplest foods taste eye-rolling good, chicken sandwiches with a side of tomato salad, pasta with cream sauce, and toasties too. even doing the dishes becomes enjoyable.
and then there are friendships. ximena and nature, beauties that go beyond aesthetics—it’s visceral. you cannot help but feel good in her company. i look forward to when we can hang out again.
we should all camp just a little bit more, preferably with friends... a couple of things that gladden the soul.

stockholm weekend pics, midsummer by the sea
midsummer is my favourite swedish holiday, even though, because of covid, it looked a little different than other years, when we danced around the maypole. take a peek at 2018, 2017, and 2015 too.
with lovely friends, we drove to the island of ingarö and found ourselves a spot on the rocks overlooking the beach.
we ate so well - italian salmi and cheeses, grilled sausages on pieces of baguette, and strawberries with freshly-whipped cream, a midsummer must-have. i still can't believe patricia brought a whisk on our picnic; i love it!
the kiddos took a dip in the baltic. it was frigid, i couldn't do it. kai and axel, kindred spirits, have been friends since the beginning. makes me happy that kai has such a sweet friend.
i brought along a couple of flower crowns to give our picnic an extra splash of midsummer :)
