vietnam, part three

here are some more of our experiences... i share some photos of vung tau and mui ne.

vung tau
we stopped in vung tau to visit the sweetest family of 5. they moved to vietnam one year ago and plan to stay for a few years before they return to their homeland of australia. we had the pleasure of having them as neighbours for a couple of years. we were excited to reunite with them, if only for a few days.  their girls and kai couldn't have been happier to see each other again.  after an initial awkward moment of silence and stares, they got along as if the year never passed and had so much fun.

mui ne
mui ne was a beautiful stay by the south china sea.  it was the 'beach' part of our vacation. our hotel was luxury, with our room right on the beach (we indulged just a bit!). we lounged alot. we played in the pool.  we fell asleep listening to the sound of the ocean.

the original fishing village of mui ne is picturesque. we rose early to catch the fishermen in action. the transport, cleaning, sorting, and selling is all done on the sand, there is no facility in place.  they use round basket boats to store fishing supplies and for trips into water close to shore.

mui ne is famous for its red sand dunes.  we tried sand-sledding much to kai's enjoyment.  the local kids ride on plastic sleds, and they have extras available for a small fee.  we also explored the 'fairy stream', a red tinted canyon with a fresh water stream.  locals use the stream as a walking path.  kai and stefan loved climbing the red hills and rolling down. i stayed behind and took photos...

to be continued...
