lego and sephora

kai and i accompanied stefan to redmond today.  he had a meeting to attend there, kai was finished school and so we all hopped in the car with our nexus passes.

oh yes, kai and i had some shopping to do too!  but first we visited the mircosoft campus, it is vast and they have everything from a bike repair shop to a dentist!

shopping stop number one, the lego store.  kai did some serious shopping!

next stop, sephora where i did some not so serious shopping.  i have been looking for a lipstick/stain/gloss that mimics the look of having just eaten a cherry popsicle, you know what i mean?  i picked up the yumberry from stila (but i now think it is too pink, i will have to pick up the raspberry crush which might give me the popsicle lips i am after).
when we met up with stefan after his meeting we headed to the coffee shop that his research indicted was the best place to find a coffee.  i don't think he was too impressed.  stefan is always on the search for the best coffee wherever we might be!

the three of us then visited the experience music project/science fiction museum.  it was designed by frank gehry, the building is colourful and curvy and it apparently glows in at sunset.

kai loved playing with the instruments, especially the drums, and stefan too! they got to connect with their inner rockstars. i joined them 'on stage' where we performed for a virtual audience of screaming fans. kai was on the guitar, stefan was on the drums, and i was the lead singer. i can't sing but it sure was great fun to belt out the lyrics.

i also enjoyed the battlestar exhibition which featured full-size spaceships and costumes. yup, i loved the show, thanks to stefan. i am just reminded of a card/t-shirt that i came across that said 'i must love you as you converted me to star trek'. true love, indeed!

we also enjoyed the centre hall where we watched music performances on a very large screen, actually the world's largest indoor video screen. it was mesmerizing, i think it would be easy to spend the day here.
it’s made of more than 700 instruments, and spirals up to the roofline

we ended the day at how to cook a wolf, an italian restaurant.  the food was very good, and for an italian to say that then next time you find yourself in seattle eat at this restaurant.  the pastas, not pictured here because they were devoured very quickly, were fabulous.

i covet...

such beautiful things over at belkina.  i have mentioned this website here.  i am loving the summer products.  i especially love this stripped tote bag.  it would get noticed.

and these clogs are awesome although i am not sure how comfortable they would be.  i currently own a pair of clogs with a wooden heel from frye and i certainly cannot spend a day in them.   but i love the peep toe on these!  and i only wear red on my feet so they would be practical, right?
i have been wanting moccasins for awhile now but haven't seen any i love until now.  aren't these fabulous?

day in whistler

we spent a lovely day in whistler attending the farmer's market and hanging out at the lake.  we haven't been to these mountains in the summertime for a long while now.  if it weren't for kai, we may still not have spent the day here.  kai was curious about what whistler looked like in the summer since he has only ever been in the winter, many, many winters!  and so, to entertain his curiosity we packed up the car with a few essentials like sunscreen and swimsuits and headed to whistler.  i am so glad we did, it was the perfect day!

the farmer's market:
they don't look very appetizing, i must admit, but they are the best veggie cabbage rolls!

of course, stefan finds the chocolate maker!

bellini is the perfect summer drink

atla lake was frigid cold.  kai was the only one that dared put on his swimsuit and go for a swim!

sweet sixteen

we were invited to a birthday dinner.  our friend's daughter, aadishri, just turned 16 years old.  i adore this family and enjoy spending time with them.  so, it was a honour to attend the celebration.  we ate at a local restaurant called west, where the food is always delicious.  i don't think i have never had an unsatisfying meal there.  the company has never been unsatisfying either!

this is the birthday girl.  she is smart, talented at anything she does (i.e playing the drums, sewing, jewellery making, cooking), and beautiful.  i love that she is in our life and kai has a 'big sister' role model!

kai adores their son dhillon

kai challenged us to a drawing contest. the birthday girl did not draw the best tank yet the judge, kai, crowned her the winner. he whispered to me that he did so because she was the birthday girl. my sweet, thoughtful boy!

the image below was taken the morning after we had a sleepover sometime last year.  i love this image of the four of them with the sunlight shining on them.

i have been known to eat leftover croissants that have been left laying around on the kitchen counter.  kai has caught on...

i heart

banquet atelier and workshop is a vancouver based studio that makes things inspired by the natural world and its animals.  i love their note cards and have happily purchased many!  then i came across their heart poster and i finally purchased it.  i picked it up from tammy's home.  she's super sweet and it was a pleasure to support her and her company. and i think it'll look good in my house once i get it framed!

here are some other banquet atelier and workshop products i love:
