weekend pics, part 2 (feast of fields)

feast of fields is a foodie harvest event.  we have attended the event annually for about 5 years.  from the website, "with a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you can taste the very best of bc from chefs, vintners, brewers, farmers, fishers, ranchers and food artisans from across the province - some think of it as a 40 course meal paired with wine and beer!"

it was a lovely way to while away the sunny afternoon.  by the end, we were full, happy, and sun-kissed!

the purpose of the event is to connect us city people with the farmers and chefs who grow and cook with local bc ingredients.  farmfolk cityfolk, the organization that organizes the event provides information about the food we eat and the people behind the food because they believe locally grown food is better for our health and our environment.  we couldn't agree more.  for our part, we do our best to eat locally and to let the seasons tell us what to eat - no strawberries in the winter for us, much to kai's chagrin!

feast of fields was hosted by a local farm, krause berry farms. the farm grows berries and veggies which you can pick yourself or purchase pre-picked. farm tours are offered too. i love that they have a u-pick flowers to create your own bouquet!
