a good mess

i love the homes i get to peek at in home decor magazines, they inspire me to take care of my home.  however i am well aware that they have been tidied, touched up, and styled by an interior designer.
this photo appeals to me equally.  the photo was snapped at the end of one mom's day.  it's so charming to see the toys laying about, the laundry not quite done, and the dishes waiting to be washed.  it's such a familiar sight.  slightly messy, yes. but also warm and loving, yes?  see more pics from the post at blog seventy tree

sometimes you have to savour the mess, especially if you are a parent, and understand what was behind the mess (i.e. a happy boy playing with his cars).  i have learned to be okay with it especially when kai came into my life. once upon a time everything would be in order before i retired to sleep but not so much anymore.

as i look about my own space at this very moment - ironing board is out waiting for the laundry (sitting in a basket for two days) to be sorted, dishes from today are in the sink, and kai's hot wheels are strewn about the floor, some meticulously lined up and some all crashed together.  and i am going to help kai with his homework right now, the chores can wait.

have a lovely (and messy) weekend!  Enjoy.
