weekend pics, a food fest

we know such good people.  darrin and alexia have been our friends since we first moved to vancouver and we consider ourselves so very lucky to have them in our lives.  it's always such fun to hang out with them.  on saturday they hosted a smoked rib backyard party.  i'm sure my iron levels are higher!  alexia made the best drink, limoncello with frozen pineapple blended together then added some sparkling water... so good!  and for dessert?  baked alaska pie, my first time consuming ice cream out of the oven... it was yummy.  and my time with them always ends with darrin making me a double-double coffee sweetened just right.  they are the best.

we know good foodie events too.  on sunday we attended the food cart fest... it happens every sunday until the end of summer so if you live in vancouver do try to go to at least one of them!  twenty food carts gather to serve the most delicious dishes.  we happily lined up to get us some buttered chicken schnitzel from vij's food cart, spicy roti wrap from reef's food cart, and the most delicious blueberry mojito popsicles (they were perfect on a sunny and hot day).  add a deejay mixing great tunes, a flea market to browse through and a game of snakes and ladders... i'd say it was a happy few hours spent!
