stockholm with h&m, reimersholme island

the best way to experience a city is by walking... and walking we did.  stefan's parents, harm and marion, had us out the door for a daily walk during the week they stayed with us.

our fifth outing took us to reimersholme island, connected to sodermalm by the bridge reimersholmsbron.  we know of this little island because one of stefan's friends lives there with his family.  it is a small, quiet neighbourhood that is best to visit on a summer day when you can take a dip in the lake, watch the canoes meander by, and relax.  on this winter day, we briskly walked around the island while kai enjoyed the ice.

on the return home, we strolled along söder mälarstrand and then up, up and up to monteliusvägen (see this post too), a walking path about half a kilometer long.  it's lined with lovely houses on one side and views of lake mälaren, gamla stan, riddarholmen, and the city hall on kungsholmen on the other.  most of the path is wooden so we held on tight since it was quite slippery.

the neighbourhood by the path is really cozy and quaint with old houses, steep hills and cobble stoned streets.  as we turned this corner or that one we were in awe that this little gem was a short distance from our own home.  i imagine this to be a perfect area to escape the summer crowds.

riddarholmen, an islet still to be explored by us

we found a cafe with the loveliest of desserts and indulged.

take a peek back...
