hopping onto our bikes, we rode to the other side of lake malaren, along north malarstrand on the island of kungsholmen. just west of city hall, we found our destination. mälarpaviljongen is an open air cafe-bar right on the water with three floating pontoons. it's quite an idyllic summer place.
we enjoyed fried herring, a halloumi burger (so good!), and meatballs with mash and lingonberries... all a very swedish fare. but they have other items on their menu too. and, they have a garden and interior design shop located right there on the water too with gorgeous items for your summer patio. it really is a lovely spot, to enjoy the sunshine and watch the various boats glide by.
malarpaviljongen is open from april to september only so we already made a note to return to this neighbourhood spot - there is swimming nearby that kai wants to partake in.
