longing for summer days: lake siljan

the weather lately has been absolutely perfect.  cold, but super sunny (except today when we had a slushy mess outside)!

reminds me that summer is on its way - albeit slowly here in stockholm - and reminds me of days like the ones we had on lake siljan in the dalarna region, our last summer fling just before kai began school in mid-august.

when we asked around about the best place to visit for an extra long weekend trip, two lakes were mentioned and we chose lake siljan simply because it was the closer one and we are glad we did, the whole area borders on precious, it's quite ridiculous.

lush landscapes, the cutest villages and home to the dala horse (the painted wooden horse souvenirs, a big one came home with me).

so, here is a collection of photos during our visit to lake siljan so you can see what i say...

our cottage away from home:

a stroll along the boardwalk on a very rainy day + fika at frick konditori:

a walk in the rainy forest:

the quaint neighborhood:

lovely neighbours that bring you homemade apple pie and vanilla cream:

going to a farmer's market in leksand... we ate herring, almost bought a sheepskin but instead picked up some knäckebröd, strawberries and veggies, and strolled down to the river.

visiting cute little towns like tallberg sitting on the hillside overlooking the lake with restaurants and a few shops:

on the lake... formed by a huge meteorite impact 370 million years ago, its the largest known crater in europe:

lounging + meeting a cat:

hiking in the woods...

sunsets and volvos...
