holiday pics (part two, on the island)

you know what has been really great about bringing in the new year? just sitting around melanie's house... in my comfy clothes… eating homemade meals, playing games, watching movies (we went to see the hobbit!), sleeping in… such a treat to bring in the new year with our family (despite the grumpy moments... and of course there have been some, we're human after all).

maya, my nine year old niece, shared in photography duties... thank you maya (she has an awesome eye for photographs).

jumping rope with india... we had so much fun!

we did get out and about too. we walked in the forest, we strolled on the beach and on a particularly grumpy day for most in the house (ahem, the littles) i went for a walk on my own to the pier.

do you see the guy in the water?  crazy!

instead of the seagull i envisioned photographing four happy children grinning at the camera... nobody was on board this particular day... except the seagull.

oh yes, we hosted a new years eve party too... a family oriented party with lots of children!  it was lovely to meet melanie and her family's friends and know they are well loved and taken care of.

isn't homemade the loveliest of gifts? this self portrait of melanie's family of five is deserving of a beautiful frame... i am on the hunt.  thank you, we love it!
