travelogue: skåne, sweden (part two, skanör-falsterbo)

skåne is the southernmost county of sweden. in the five-plus years that we have been living in sweden, we heard so much about it. in particular, what a great place it is to visit for a summer vacation. so, with our trip to italy cancelled, we took a train westward, then rented a car exploring the coastline, big open pastures, and cozy cafés and restaurants. it was everything we've been told and didn't even think about italy. well, kindof :)

because i am writing this months and months later, i will stick to the highlights, short and sweet. next up, skanör-falsterbo!

in this marina, on one side is the white sand backed by a line of colourful huts and a nature reserve, and on the other the badhytten cafe, a wood and glass building with a rooftop terrace and seats right on the sand.

ordering fish is the way to go. kai and stefan had salmon while i indulged in fresh shimp. there is a little coffee cart by the beach where coffee (for my boys) and chai (for me) were enjoyed. the little hut next to badhytten served ice cream, which how we ended our day on this little slice of paradise.

it was a very windy day so we chose to lay in the sun and read and walk along the nature trail rather than going for a dip in the ocean. be warned, lots of photos of cute huts below!

on the drive home, we stopped by smoky barbeque and pickles for dinner, where anything but fish was ordered: pulled pork burgers, wings and fries!
