happy valentine's day!

have you seen paperman?  i thought it would be a perfect valentine day post (it's worth seeing more than once if you have viewed it already, it's that cute!).  the romantic comedy short film takes just about seven minutes to view... enjoy.

and today kai is distributing this homemade-ish valentine's card!  we take the easy route by choosing a photograph and then writing text on it... very easy and fun.  we've done it this way for the last couple of years (see here and here).   kai attached a sheet of stickers to the back of each card this year and stefan baked the best ever chocolate chip cookies for kai to share with his classmates. done and done.

tomorrow is valentine's day.  we have never celebrated it, never a chocolate or a flower exchanged between stefan and i. but of course kai is a different story, i already have a prezzie for him (a charades game) and some chocolate of course.

weekend pics

this weekend marked canada's first february long weekend; yesterday was bc family day.  suffice it to say, it was a family kind of weekend (not that we need a stat holiday as an excuse to spend time together).

there was a day spent wandering about the city. in chinatown we each had a lovely bowl of noodle soup; mine had a curry based broth that was the best i have ever had.  you must try harvest community kitchen, you won't be disappointed. i can't wait to get back there (it's a great little block of boutiques and eateries).  in gastown we had our last hot chocolate festival drink at secret location; stefan loved it, it had coffee in it. at granville island stefan picked up groceries while kai and i took a quick tour of the boat show; kai thought it was the best thing he's seen (bedrooms and bathrooms and kitchens with full sized refrigerators, etc) while i was simply nauseous (i can't even handle being on a swing too long!).

another day was spent in whistler.  while the boys were on the mountain skiing/boarding i wandered the village and trails, took photographs, poked into some shops, and enjoyed a chai or two.  when we met up we had a yummy lunch and then came home.  a lovely day completed.

and a day was spent hunkered down at home; a run, a board game, a movie and popcorn, video game playing, reading, and lounging.  a pretty good weekend, if you ask me.
