a sunny escape!

we are packing our bags and heading to cuba at the end of the month. the excitement of trekking through this caribbean island is so much that it's hard to contain.  colonial architecture, mojitos, gorgeous beaches and maybe dancing salsa!

it was bit of a last minute decision to go away.  and i am so grateful we did, i am looking forward to breaking our routine, connecting and creating moments.

have a lovely weekend.  i'll be reading up on cuba and taking notes of all the places to see and things to do.

the perfect bootie

i love the look of ankle boots.  but i think they look best with long legs... which i lack.

but it didn't stop me from ordering a pair of booties - on sale for $30.  they are cut lower to the ankle which i think will suit my height better.  i hope!  and, get this, i ordered them in burgundy... i'm living on the edge friends :)

i was hoping to have them on my feet already but i must be a little more patient... i travelled to the states (just yesterday) to fedex them back to the shop for an exchange -  they fit too big and i was bummed about it.  hopefully i will get to enjoy them before the sunny skies arrive.

in the meantime, i should figure out what kind of socks will work when worn with skinny ankle jeans.  any suggestions for some good no-show socks?

kai: he loves the mountain, especially a snowy one.  when he was little he asked if it was possible to live on grouse mountain :)  kai has learned so much from his ski lessons and can now keep up with his dad on the slopes.  his favourite is skiing moguls.

ps.  i adore those freckles on and around his nose.  love.

weekend pics, bye-bye grouse

i was all aches and pains after this last snow climb up and around dam mountain... eight weeks of snow fun have come to an end (and my endless pics of the same mountain week after week :).  it is unlikely we will have an opportunity to play on the mountain again this winter so i was glad that stefan and kai had another stellar day of riding the slopes.   kai and i also enjoyed some baseball - with a ski pole and snowballs - which was super fun.  ending the day at the dirty apron for a late lunch proved to be very delicious!

we can't wait for next year's snowy mountain ritual!

the bulk of my weekend, however, was all about hunkering down at home (with jude as company).

february eighteen

stefan and i celebrated nineteen years on february 18th - the day we met.  we probably work well together because he always cooks and i always clean up :)  we finally get to celebrate tonight, dining at the farmer's apprentice while kai is looked after by friends.

have a lovely weekend.  and you can buy those awesome tea towels from here.

three recipes i want stefan to cook

three recipes i want stefan to cook /  thai beef stew with lemongrass and noodles, crispy ceci and roasted root vegetable fajitas.

did i get your attention at crispy ceci?  i thought so. we have eaten these at campagnolo every single time we visit the restaurant which is conveniently located near us.  and lucky us, they released the recipe just a couple of months ago for their fifth anniversary. i cannot wait for stefan to give it a try at home!

kai: he is studying for a science test.  his teacher shared this rock cycle rap video to help teach the class about rocks and minerals.  kai was all over it.  he is prepared and knows his stuff.
