kai: he loves his sword. he bought it with his own saved monies and good thing he did. it's wielding powers have come into good use as there are always enemy knights and ninjas to fight. i love his energy and imagination; they are infinite.Wednesday, May 21, 2014

weekend pics, victoria day long weekend
we had a nice weekend of bike riding along the seawall, wandering the aisles of the grocery store (followed by stefan's cooking), squeezing chubby baby cheeks, working on a grade five science project (sooooo time consuming!), enjoying the sunshine (mother nature listened!!!), and just hanging out.

rain and shine
dear mother nature, i have loved this week of warm weather. the mediterranean runs in my blood and i will always choose warm (even humid!) days over cold or wet ones. but, i am tired of your bad behaviour. i hear the weekend is suppose to be grey and rainy. this has been your theme of late, you give us vancouverites a few days of sunshine and then you take it away and rain on our fun.
now don't get me wrong, although i would like to keep the umbrella at bay, i can appreciate rain. it can be peaceful and comforting snuggling up with a cup of tea and a good book. i love my hunters and putting them to use. the smell of blossoms after a day of rain is lovely too.
but enough is enough. let there be sunshine for a little longer, okay?
loving the top left image; the perfect warm weather outfit! so cute. and isn't that top right image a sweet one?

19/52 weeks
kai: kai and i were lounging on the sofa chatting, wrestling, and making faces. kai wanted to see what he looked like so we documented our antics. this scrunched up cutie was my favourite. pure silliness.

a dream kitchen
the kitchen in my house is small. despite it, stefan cooks up a storm in there and turns out some amazing food. kai has always helped out in the kitchen, observing his cooking, getting to help with small jobs and now he helps out more with prepping and actually cooking (he is famous for scrambling the perfectly cooked egg). these days, he also helps with clean up although he would much rather be causing the mess.
i dream of a bigger kitchen but since we are not moving anytime soon, i'll have to opt for a more stylish one in the meantime. here are some lovely kitchens. what do you think, would you want to cook in these spaces?

weekend pics - mother's day
on sunday night, as i slipped into bed with kai to read a story and doze beside him i felt incredibly grateful for a lovely day of lounging, strolling, obstacle course racing, eating ice cream, and being silly with my kai.
while in bed with him i noticed those little things that usually annoy me, his lego pieces strewn about the floor, his clothing in a pile on the bathroom floor but then it hit me. i realized i love "seeing" kai around the house... his dirty socks under the coffee table, his drawings displayed on the kitchen wall, crumbs on the sofa from a snack he had earlier that day, his homework strewn across the dining table, the loomed bracelet he made hanging on a door knob... they are a stamp of my motherhood. a reminder that kai was here.
this past year of mothering has been amazing, emotionally exhausting and significant... moments when i was A+ mothering and others of feeling terribly weak but you know what? i'm forever grateful for the chance to get to experience it all.
i'm a lucky girl. i get to be kai's mother.

i'm loving...
a "white marble" iphone case
i have always wanted to play an instrument and have been quietly
what a clever use of scrap fabric. loving the blush tones of this tasseltry.
i am looking to bring more greenery into the house and
i have been using it as my water glass at work.
it enhances the natural color of your nails making the pinks of the nails pinker.
beautiful for everyday.
i'll take two more please.
snehal always has great looking salon styled hair and her trick, she recently
kinfolk. beautiful stories. beautiful photographs. beautiful way to while away time.
mother's day is around the corner! i hope the above list inspires a gift idea for a mother in your life.
