summer break begins!

i finished work yesterday, which means summer break begins, woohoo!

it was a gorgeous weekday, so stefan and i took the ferry into town. i will never tire of being on the water, with these views!

we lunched at kavalleriet, just a skip and hop from where the ferry drops you off, up the street from the opera house. they always have delish salads, which i highly recommend. while they have a cozy interior, we opted to sit outside, happily munching away on my räksallad, a traditional shrimp salad.

we shopped at svenskt tenn (another josef frank pillow came home with me) and strolled the city streets.

in the evening, we dined at nya carnegie bryggeriet, the brewery down the water from us. i stuck with the seafood theme and ordered a lobster roll. my favourite drink is their champagne beer, so good!

sometimes, i have to pinch myself that i live here, surrounded by water, good food, and beautiful views.

hope you had a lovely thursday too!

stockholm weekend pics, indian food and balcony dinners

indian street food, which i have probably already written about here on the blog, is one of our favourite neighbourhood restaurants. it's a lovely walk along the canal, plenty of outdoor seating, and then when stuffed with food, the boat takes us back.

i always alternate between the same dishes -  mumbai samosas, golden goan achari prawns, chicken chettinad - and i would encourage you to try these too. they are full of flavour, perfectly spicy and just eye-rolling good.

the cutest, mamma feeding her babe!

since we are mostly home for the summer this year, stefan bought himself a bbq and has been cooking up a storm: flatbread, skewers, salmon on a cedar plank, and slow-roasted ribs too!

in other news... i woke up to dropping flower petals and even on their last legs, they are beautiful (love finding small happy moments). i am currently obsessed string shelving and kai and his dad were being handy, hanging up a new one - and nothing went wrong, yay! the cats napping where they shouldn't be (loki can get a little too friendly with the sheepskin).

the new shelving is up! and loki enjoying boy time :)

hope you had a lovely relaxing weekend too!

friday night date night

one of our favourite places is hellasgĂĄrden, a park with a lake to swim in during the summer or ice skate on during the winter, trails around the lake to stroll, and a sauna if you dare go nude! it's close to the city so we usually ride our bikes over there, about 30 minutes (40 for me, i'm a slow cyclist). tonight we went for the food, restaurant storstugan is always good, the staff is friendly, and the environment is casual and relaxed.

the food is all cooked from scratch. the emphasis is on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients; they make their own sausages and smoke their own fish. Baked goods are made on-site too. And, meats and veggies come from the local farms. The menu changes constantly and it's always delicious. yes, always!

hop on your bike and get over there, they are open for lunch all week and dinner on friday nights. make sure to book a table, and enjoy :)

hope you had a lovely friday night too!
