the best way to experience a city is by walking... and walking we did. stefan's parents, harm and marion, had us out the door for a daily walk during the week they stayed with us.

walking over the bridge to gamla stan |
i have written about gamla stan, stockholm's old town before (see this post) and it continues to be a favourite place of mine. we spent time there with h&m, whether it was to walk through to get to our destination, buy souvenirs, have dinner, or simply to stroll along the cobble stoned streets. i think they liked it as much as i do.
i must give a shout out to stefan who found us a great traditional swedish cuisine restaurant, simply called tradition. from the moment we took a bite of their knäckebröd, i knew it would be great; so fresh! then my starter, gubbröra, anchovies and egg on black ry bread, was gorgeous. i plowed through my main course, fried mustard breaded baltic herring with butter, lemon, potato puree and lingonberries. if you find ourselves in stockholm, you must eat here!
