back home from our island(s) getaway!

we've been away for most of july, it's the swedish way.  stockholm streets are quieter in july, many businesses, restaurants, shops and cafes close up shop.  with no camps available, parents pack up their kiddos and go to their country house in the archipelago.  our summer travels took us to three different islands: vis, croatia, lemnos, greece, and gotland, sweden.  each was different, each was lovely, each screamed summer.

a summer afternoon at gröna lund

a summer afternoon with kai at gröna lund, stockholm's favourite amusement park.  i think it might be the littlest one in the world!

there was cotton candy, mini donuts and slushies... we went a little crazy.  when kai was little and taking him to vancouver's playland, we would eat the sandwiches i brought and sweets would be fruit, usually apples and carrots.

we went a little easier on the rides but that didn't stop me from swearing and screaming!  i don't do well on rides, kai tells me that i'm "hilarious" but at least he wasn't embarrassed.  i made a mental note to not go on rides that spin you 'round and 'round. 

oh, we won prizes too which never happens :)

27, 28 and 30 / 52 weeks

kai: in vis, croatia kai exploring many beaches (LOVED the water), going on a very cool military tour, and eating mixed salad daily. 

kai: in lemnos, greece kai loves being a big brother to leo and kara, he discovers a love of sardines (!), and he tries windsurfing for the first time.

kai: in gotland, sweden kai enjoys quarry swimming in the blue lagoon, eating smoked mackerel and spending quality time with livia and friends.
