weekend pics

this weekend we celebrated our favourite little girl's birthday.  said celebration happened at southlands farm, a lovely spot to spend time in the sun!

yes, sunshine.  vancouver is enjoying an extended summer this year.  but i must say some coolness and rain would be nice right about now.  but i digress...

at the party, i pushed the kiddos on the rope swing and then blew up balloons for them to take home.  it was quite fun considering my own kiddo wasn't in attendance.  kai was invited to another friend's birthday party that took place at watermania... give him a choice between horses and a swimming pool, the pool will win out each and every time.  but we got to hangout again afterwards so kai could deliver his prezzie.  happy happy 4th kara.

we also spent a fun evening with a favourite lady and her cute boys.  it was a multi course dinner with spaghetti and meatballs cooked in my mom's delish tomato sauce, chicken cutlets and a gorgeous caesar salad followed by beta 5's divine cream puffs.  and in between there was time for giggles with little greyson, i swear he's the happiest kid on the planet.  he swayed to stefan's drumming, proudly toppled kai's tower blocks, loved my mom's meatballs, and pulled cat ears.  sweet, right?

38 / 52 weeks

kai:  we stopped in for a promised treat after kai ran errands with me.  i thought it was the perfect time to snap a pic for the 52 weeks post but he insisted that he pose for it (pic to the right).  he wanted a cool pic not a cute one (pic to the left).  but what happened just before we walked out of the house to run our errands surprised me the most.  kai walked into the bathroom, looked straight into the mirror and adjusted his newly cut hair just so.  he then proceeded to scrunch up his jacket sleeves.  with one last look in the mirror and a satisfied grin he walked out the door.  what just happened?  the kai i know would happily walk out into the world a dishevelled mess.  and, he's asked me for deodorant too!  i know, i. am. speechless.

weekend pics, my weekend away

hi! i spent the weekend in victoria with one of my favourite girlfriends.  this was my first trip alone in a few years and so great to spend it with a good friend.

here are a few photos i took on our trip (i forgot my camera so these are taken with my crappy phone camera).  we stayed at the magnolia hotel, a recently renovated boutique hotel located right in downtown. it was beautifully done with greys and taupes and bowls of apples, and that rug at reception i loved the most.  we ate at rebar and ferris' oyster bar and grill -  there was mussels and ahi tuna and oysters; items i normally don't eat with my boys.  so good.  we attended a play, the rez sisters, at the belfry.  we pampered ourselves at silk road with a green tea facial and the best neck/shoulder and arm/hand massage ever, we bought tea too (they make lovely teas).  we visited munro's bookstore, a gorgeous place to while away time (it's a must).  and we visited boutique shops with stops for ice teas and london fogs.  the weather was spectacular.

i have only been back one day and it's been a bit of a busy one...  i painted another wall in the house, tidied and laundered, washed the floors, ran errands with my little guy, and now i'm sick; a nasty cold.  fingers crossed and some vitamin c for me.  so glad i had the weekend away.
