friday interiors, my bedside tables

the bedroom is much smaller than we've had before. the previous owner added built in closets and painted one wall gray. other than our bed, a chest of drawers and a wall hanging, which we originally had, we didn't buy anything for the room. actually, in the 4.5 years in stockholm, we've lived without bedside tables, temporarily using what we had on hand, repurposing our things. a chest, a stool, a basket or two have had lives as bedside tables.

i wanted to be intentional about what i chose to finish the bedroom, to choose something that felt right to me instead of buying simply to fill up the space. it was hard for me to be okay with allowing the room to be unfinished.

and then this spring, while flipping through a swedish interior magazine - an obsession of mine - i saw the one. simple wooden square cubes with a drawer that would perfectly suit the room and space. i crossed my fingers as i looked to see if it would be listed in the description and it was. norrgavel, a local store in the norrmalm neighbourhood sold them.

the cute little cubes come in different pastel shades and i quickly, with the help of a friend, settled on a rose colour to complement the gray wall and beige headboard.

with my kobo within easy reach on the new bedside table and a place for my cup of tea, lazy mornings in bed just got better.

a new home!

*update: new posts added if you scroll back to may 2018, i like to keep things in order!

it's been quiet over here on the blog...

a month of sunshine has me outdoors as much as possible... summer in the spring, in stockholm!  the swedes and my boys & i are enjoying every bit of it.  i post photos on instagram, if you are curious about a sunny and warm stockholm.

and, we were house hunting, bidding, packing (still packing) and all that comes with it... sorting, donating, throwing out, etc.  these tasks have consumed most of my free time when i am not working or parenting. i'm loving it but now, towards the end, it's taking its toll and i just want to be moved already.

yes, we bought our very own place in stockholm!  and it's almost time to move in, just a few days away. actually, stefan just picked up the keys this afternoon. i am quite excited to organize a new home for us. so, so excited :)

once we are in the new place and done with summer travel plans, i will get back to filling up this blog with content for you and for me.  i love that i created this space and so grateful that you choose to visit.

please be patient with me as i slowly cull and edit summer and travel photos, i'll be back.

happy summer,
connie

looking for a new home

wow, looking at rentals in stockholm is like being in an interior design magazine!  most places look like these photos, isn't it amazing?  nope, not ours... too small for our needs but we keep looking.

fingers crossed, we hope to find something like this but bigger and not too expensive (wishful thinking). ðŸ¤ž

friday interiors, sheepskin

pic source not found

a super cozy way to add depth to a room in nordic countries is with sheepskin.  the neutral shade of sheepskin works well in any space and it's super resilient and many can even be washed in a machine for easy upkeep. lay it on a sofa, thrown over the back of a dining chair, used as a rug, and even keeping babies warm... in stockholm, all baby carriages are laid with sheepskin during the winter months.

i recently picked one up - a humanely-raised sheepskin in a lovely caramel colour - that is strewn on our new sofa; i love it's coziness.  it's sooooo soft and visually adds texture and warmth.

friday interiors, stockholm

aren't the images on stockholm's real estate insta site, hellonooks, gorgeous?

although we planned to live in stockholm for two years, we have extended it for almost two more years, returning late 2018 instead.  and, we may need to find another place to live in the new year... but i am happy to move into any of these living spaces.

the swedes sure know how to dress their homes, i am swooning over these spaces!

have a lovely weekend.
