hearts galore!

tomorrow is valentine's day.  will you be celebrating?  kai will be at a dance and stefan and i will probably be home watching a movie and eating take out.  although we don't celebrate valentines, i do adore anything heart.  kai says i have a gazillion around the house!

that heart shelf is crazy cute, right?  i'd be happy having it hang on my wall.  and wouldn't those mini pans be perfect for pancakes  :)

my stack of rings

i don't wear much jewellery but the one ring that never leaves my finger is my 'love' band. first it was my gold band with sapphires that stefan designed for me when we were married.  i love that ring as much as the one i now wear, a silver vintage-like band with ten tiny diamonds scattered around it.  it is a ring i coveted and stalked for a looooong time and then one tuesday evening many years ago i unwrapped a little box given to me by stefan and all of a sudden i was its owner! i adore these rings so so much and i haven't given a thought to owning other rings.   two very pretty and simple rings is all a girl needs.

but then this recent craze with stacking rings began and, well, i was drawn to it.  i started to casually look around but not fully committed to adding to my small ring collection.   then i saw them and got giddy inside... you know, when you see something that is so perfect for you.  that's how i feel about my new stack of delicate and simple bands by roberto fioravanti, a vancouverite that i stumbled upon at circle craft. it felt like i had won the lottery.  three are sterling silver with just the right amount of sparkle and one is gold plated and oxidized.  they are simple and thin but all together they make me swoon. i think they will be a permanent fixture on my finger.

the best part?  i can casually browse for additional rings to add to my stack and change it up.  and, i can simply take out my pretty sapphire wedding band and add it to the mix too.  the options are endless.

ps.  roberto fioravanti is doing another show at the milano coffee lounge and tasting bar on december 10th.  hope to see you there.

have a lovely weekend (my hubby comes home on saturday!).

loving hearts

tomorrow is valentine's day.  we have never celebrated it, never a chocolate or a flower exchanged between stefan and i. but of course kai is a different story, i already have a prezzie for him (a charades game) and some chocolate of course.

yet i love anything with a heart on it.  and here i share ten heart themed lovelies...

weekend pics

i started the weekend off at the year of the snake event with good friend patrycja; this is her year!  we celebrated with hair makeovers, live hip hop dance competition (wow, did we i feel old!), and chinese food.  with chinese new year fast approaching, it's a big event in Vancouver, there is plenty to experience in the next couple of weeks like parades, more food (but of course!) and a good excuse to visit the chinese gardens and temples in the city.

after a much needed haircut for kai we had a little take-out sushi picnic in a nearby park.  it was quite cold but food, some frolicking, and a blanket kept us warm!  that evening i was lucky enough to spend time with patrycja again but this time our boys hung out with us... playing whoonu (i learned a few things about kai, like he prefers spicy food over bowling!!!), eating (goulash stew, black bean chocolate cake and european candy), drinking (give me a sparkly rose anytime!), and enjoying.  thank you p+s.

the black bean chocolate cake is much more delicious than it sounds or looks... very moist and not too chocolate-y which is my kind of chocolate cake

if you have never played, do so and expect laughter!

don't you love her stack of bracelets?
on sunday we spent time on the mountain again. we weren't meant to go but our little guy who had a tummy ache the night before and was sick (throwing up kind of sick, my friends, it wasn't pretty) awoke feeling much better in the morning so after much persuasion we went up the mountain.

this time i had stefan to keep me company on the snowshoe trail and we discovered a little trail loop at the peak; it had such beautiful views; i hope you don't mind my sharing yet more snowy pics!

after collecting kai from his ski lesson we made the rounds for hot chocolate infused with honey nougat and bits of hazelnut from bella geletaria for me (the hot chocolate festival is still going on... i rank this one as my favourite, sorry thomas) and coffee from mink for stefan. kai didn't partake in the drinking treats...  we wanted to be cautious with his tummy but the lovely chicken noodle soup we picked up from the stock market on granville island hit the spot... for all three of us.
