stockholm weekend pics, långholmen and reimersrholme islands

ön is an outdoor pop-up restaurant at carlshäll on långholmen, opened by adam and albin. set up in the garden, there is also a bar and the food is cooked over open charcoal grills and in wood-fire ovens. so delicious, it was hard to choose from the menu so we tried a lot of dishes. i loved the aubergine salad, corn on the cob, burrata, flatbread, and octopus. it's only open until august 8 and i really recommend you visit! it's such a lovely place to while away a couple of hours in the sun.

and then there was swimming too. we found a spot away from the crowd on the beach where stefan took a dip with me in the frigid waters. but, quickly enough the temperature is just perfect. i stayed on a bit longer than my boys, laying in the sun and reading my book. it felt like a vacation in my own backyard.

where we swam, quiet among the trees

where we did not swim, too many people... crazy!

right next door to långholmen is reimersholme island. i met ximena and jane at the reimersholme hotel, a hidden natural wine bar. it's a cool place, small and run by friendly staff.

it's cool that natural wines are chemical-free - made from unadulterated fermented grape juice and nothing else, no additives whatsoever in the winemaking process - and i happily shared a bottle. despite taste testing a few kinds, including orange wine, and i don't think i would choose the 'funky' weird taste again. i'll stick with conventional winemaking with its technical intervention. sorry!

so grateful to have these two beautiful islands just a short bike ride away.

stockholm weekend pics, out and about in södermalm

spending time on södermalm is always a good idea, especially with a breakfast stop at cafe pascal, window shopping, a galette lunch at sébastien på söder, and strolling the waterfront/gardens around tantolunden.

at home, we enjoyed the berries we picked up during our outing, including in my breakfast yogurt. loving greek yogurt with tahini ever since i first tried it in greece last summer. and, stefan, of course, cooked some delish food like ribs and cornbread and a huge dutch baby cake.

i finally have our norway winter trip travelogue post completed! whew, that only took me months to finish. if you would like a peek click here, there are cute huskies to swoon over.

speaking of trips, we packed for our two-week getaway to the south of sweden. while it's not italy, we are looking forward to seeing more of sweden. i think loki wanted to come along (scroll for the pic).

trysil, norway

see you back here in a couple of weeks!
