friday interiors: a house and links to our summer travels in skåne

i swoon over this house which is located next to höganäs harbor. i wish i had known about it when i was in skåne with my boys last summer; i was literally right there on the harbour!

i love the colour combinations, spring tones of pink and yellow, splashes of brown with orange curtains in one room and with purple curtains in another. she mixes materials and shapes as well as textures and styles with such confidence - and it's so inspiring! sheer curtains, rustic wooden floors, a large dining table, and sculptural details.

marie olsson nylander's personal details are simply eye-catching!

all photos are from here.

swedish grace, stockholm's stadbibiotek

on a sunny day back in june, when the air was warmer, i ventured a little north in the city into vasastan to find one of the world's beautiful libraries.  stockholms stadbibiotek - stockholm's public library - has a gorgeous dome central reading room.  take one of the two winding stairs up to the circular balcony to browse, sit with a book down below, or scout out the english section.  all the while marvelling at such a beautiful place.  it was created in the swedish grace style by the architect gunnar asplund.

stockholms stadbibiotek sits next to a leafy park with a view of the neighbourhood and apparently the cafe up on the hill serves the best waffles... i think i will have to return with my boys ;)

how i love wandering the streets finding treasures in stockholm.

stockholm weekend pics

a sunny saturday... it was so lovely, the warmth!

the three of us took the ferry to skeppsholmen to visit the josef frank exhibit at the architecture design center - in austria he is well known for his architecture, in sweden for his gorgeous textiles.  and no, the fabric i want for the pillow that will grace our new sofa is not a print of little watermelons, stefan.  he isn't so keen on josef frank textiles. blasphemy, i know.

and then lunch at the hotel skeppsholmen...  my lemon massaged kale with roasted pumpkin was delish.

a nice and easy saturday (away from all of kai's homework, argh).

a cloudy sunday... a chill in the air.

an afternoon to myself (the boys were nerding out with friends playing video games - kai loved the virtual reality system), i met up with laurie in town to fika at cafe pascal.  she told her boys she'd be out for an hour with me but they knew, we can't just chat for an hour ;)

it was all the sunshine i needed.

hope you had a lovely weekend too.

friday interiors

i love this vase by eva schildt!  glass vessel with a brass bracket to act as flower support, clever and pretty.  äng - english translation is meadow - came home with me awhile ago.  swoon.

have a wonderful weekend.
