travelogue: a birthday weekend on the island of sandhamn

keeping to tradition, stefan and i went away for my birthday. our one night and two days on sandhamn, an idyllic village in the outer archipelago, was bliss. with a party scene vibe during the summer, on the off season, there with few people. it was peaceful and relaxing.

we walked and walked around the island, one day this way and the next that way. of course, being sweden, there was an evening of sauna-ing and floating in the heated pool. we also booked the outdoor hot tub… it was so dark, we almost didn't find it. but once settled in, with proseco in hand and a light snow, it was pretty perfect.

pickled herring plate, a classic swedish appetizer!

fish soup and fried herring

fish soup, again!

i love that someone kitted out their ride hells angels sytle :)

aren't the autumn colours just dreamy, my favourite!

coveting a few things found right here in sweden

ett hem is a boutique hotel hidden away on a leafy street. this home away from home was designed by ilse crawford who has an eye for beautiful vignettes and cozy places to relax from the backyard to the living-room. our dinner here with friends was one of our favourite nights. before i leave sweden, i want to stay overnight for a little staycation but it's really expensive so i might have to be content with this sweet illustration by maja sten.

black and white staircase photo (50x70) reminds me of some of my favourite buildings in stockholm. it's from scandinavian walls, a new online site selling affordable artwork. and it started from an instagram account!

vase from the swedish online gallery the ode to, which often has a pop-up in stockholm.

atp atelier's boots are perfect for stockholm's winter. and i'll take one of those purses too!

octopus candle holder from artilleriet, a beloved swedish shop in gothenburg.

skovby, a home interior shop also on the west coast, sells this gorgeous glass cabinet that i have always wanted but haven't found until now; first spotted here.

rose poster by fine little day, again located on the west coast of sweden. i think i need to move west :)

svenskt tenn, a shop i love and wish i could buy everything in it, but a couple of these cute oiseaux de paradis mugs would be just fine.

the tiniest october birthstone from a local jeweler, herr och fru.

another one from svenskt tenn, the iris vase.

i am not brand loyal and have used many kinds of moisturizers but i would happily bring face stockholm's orange cream back into rotation.

what have you been coveting these days?
