lucy is in 5th grade.  she loves horses.  actually, she loves all animals and wants to be a vet.  she owns a gazillion stuffies.  never assume all girls like pink because she'll set you straight.  lucy likes lego and playmobil.  she has a great pair of 'cow' birkenstocks.  best of all, lucy adores my kai and we adore her - we would have a hard time thinking of who we'd rather have as a neighbour.

afterschool fun

there is something so beautiful about watching kai be with his friends. i love listening to the laughter.  i love it when he is silly.  i find it interesting to watch him in moments of conflict.  i love watching all of his experiences.

kai has befriended the sweetest kids at school this year. 



leif and laika are brother and sister and i adore them.  kai does too.  he and leif can spend a very long time on the swings.  and i love that laika is one of the boys, she enjoys running about with kai.





jack's mom told me that kai made jack a 'best friends forever' card.  is that not the sweetest? they hang out together at school playing spy games, soccer, and getting into mischief.



summertime

today is the first day of summer (now if the weather gods knew about it, it would be perfect). we have a busy summer planned with trips to the island, okanagan, and toronto.  kai told me a little while back, "you and i are going to have a fun summer."  i love that he looks forward to spending time with me and having adventures.  unfortunately, stefan will be working for most of it.  boo.

we are 14!

we get to celebrate today!  wow, 14, but really 16 as a couple, can you believe it?  i am so glad we chose each other to share our lives with.  i wouldn't change a thing on this shared journey.  happy anniversary! 

happy father's day

this was stefan's day today...

1) attended kai's circus performance.  after completing circus school, he performs for an audience (of mostly parents and family).  it was very cute - he is the one in the puppy costume!

    

 


2) dropped by the italian cultural centre for their annual festival.  i loved watching this boy eat his watermelon with such gusto!

3) inexplicable silly fun with a handmade stress ball outside of the ice cream shop (yes, we acquired another child for the day):

 

    

 4) and finally, dinner at refuel, stefan's third love:

the vancouver whitecaps

stefan took kai to attend a special evening of soccer with instruction from the whitecap coaches and some of their players.  i was a bit worried about the weather.  rain  could occur at any moment this evening.  but that did not distract kai who was giddy with excitement when the coach for his group turned out to be the whitecaps goalie, joe cannon.  kai had him autograph one of his soccer shoes!

kai will be attending a summer camp with the whitecaps at the end of august.

downtown

we headed downtown tonight for some food cart dining and walking.  i wanted kai to see some of the positive responses, love notes to vancouver, that have graced the broken windows since the playoff riot took place. it was very cool to witness how quickly people came together!

 

   

there was great energy downtown.  a couple of guys drew a hopscotch, a group of people were having a picnic on one of the busy street corners, lots of music, and lots of smiles.  beautiful.

 

 

dinner came from the amazing selection of food carts that have been added to our city (look for a future post on this by stefan).
