we also had fun while in toronto. some of our highlights included multiple visits to the neighbourhood pool, taste of the danforth festival, the picasso exhibit at the art gallery of ontario, the ontario science centre, niagara falls with a stop at a water park, making tiramisu, evergreen brickworks, perfect home cooked meals, tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes.
i was so happy to learn that i would be in toronto for the taste of the danforth festival. it is held in greektown and includes greek food (we indulged in spinach pies and calamari), greek music, cooking demonstrations, and a children's fun zone. thankfully the rain stayed away, mostly. if i lived in toronto, this would be an annual tradition for me.
my favourite piece at the picasso exhibit was jacqueline with hands crossed. it was a surprise to learn that picasso tried different art applications like still life (i had no idea!), inspired by his peers.
evergreen brickworks is an incredible public place (we went twice) that connects people to nature and provides opportunities for education, hosts a farmer's market, and has a great shop where you can purchase local products . it's an environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainability. the quarry gardens is a great place to walk along the paths (we spotted a turtle!) and enjoy a view of the city. kids enjoyed the chimney court which is a great big play space that (if taking one of their programs) teaches about composting, growing vegetables, cooking in cob ovens, etc.
love this picture
