kungsträdgården is one of stockholm's many city squares, a place to meet up with friends to enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring or the ice rink in the winter. the latter has been taking place here since 1962.
kai's school held a family skate here and it was a lovely way to spend time, mingling with other expats. the weather was unusually warm (quite a bit of puddles on the rink which rippled as the wind blew) but the lights and music, the pepparkaka and julmust added to the festive feel.

kungsträdgården is near the downtown shopping district. the nordiska kompaniet department store with it's windows dressed for the holidays is just across the street. the little ones were in awe of the displays, so adorable.

i took advantage of the christmas markets nearby to browse and pick up a few holiday gifts.
there was some home baking too, thanks to stefan. chocolate-nut rugelach from bon appetit... think cocoa powder, nutella, chopped nuts, and flaky sea salt. so good, especially dipped in tea :-)
all in all, a fun and relaxing weekend. hope you had a good one too. can you believe christmas is only 19 days away!!!
