the main focus will be to brighten up his room. first, some new paint on the walls is needed - i am thinking of painting the walls the same off white as the rest of the house. i am a big fan of white walls; i think they will make his toys stand out more. to keep things interesting i am entertaining the idea of wallpapering one of the walls. new lighting will help brighten things up too.
i had been scouring the web and my magazines for some inspiration but found it difficult to find many spaces that i liked. there was lots of boy themed rooms going on which didn't appeal to me. i think a child's room can be playful without going totally gender crazy. so, i will tackle kai's room as any other room in the house while still highlighting his interests and personality (i hope!).
there was one space that i liked. i want to replace his bed with one that incorporates storage but i am loving the idea of this loft bed. what a brilliant idea to create a play area on the lower bunk and have the option to cover up the mess with the slide of a curtain.

i also love these spaces too. the main pieces are gender neutral and the rooms have a modern aesthetic that i like.

of course, i should consider kai's ideas too. he wants black walls with accents of orange! stay tuned.
