we celebrated with friends, ximena and petter and their girlies. we made a fondue, dipping reindeer, meatballs and beef. but the veggies were the best, especially the broccoli. the kids made a decadent ice cream dessert and stefan whipped up a gorgeous chocolate cake. the girlies were dressed in lovely frocks (that deer dress!). we played telestrations and brought in the new year with lovely bubbles. quiet, sweet fun.

then, a couple of days later, we went out to the lake for ice skating. ximena brought a thermos of tea for warming up, the kiddos delved into imaginary play, and we enjoyed the scenery of woods and ice. but the rumbles coming from the ice were freaking us moms out a bit. apparently 5 people fell through! yikes, i'm glad i didn't know that till later.
there was the local ski hill too. kai wasn't thrilled at the idea of skiing on, literally, a hill, when he is used to skiing on mountains. once there, however, he absolutely loved being up on that little hill with his friend livia. up and down they went, over and over and over. we snacked on ximena's banana muffins and rosehip soup. cecelia got me sledding.
pretty nice, this place that we are calling home. thank you to our sweet friends for gathering us up in a big welcoming embrace.
