we rented a car on the weekend to explore a little further. and wow what a lovely little weekend we had. first up, a nature reserve.
naturum stendörren, made up of several islands, is located on the idyllic coast of sweden. you first come upon the farm on the mainland, a traditional one with grazing sheep and old fashion tools.
with suspension bridges between the islands, island "hopping" is made easy. our first hike led us to find a spot to bbq. we brought sausages and a tomato and mozzarella salad plus some lovely cheese, olives and strawberries to snack on. kai declared he would live in a forest one day, he loves it in nature.
and then it was time for a swim. well, it was a tad chilly so it was only kai you took a dip, brave boy! the baltic is not as salty as other oceans (due to its mix of the atlantic and fresh water from the rivers) which kai likes and us too. stefan managed to nap on the rock while i read / played cards with kai. the sun was lovely.
we explored some of the other islands which are made up of rock (stendorren translates to "stone door" in english), green meadows, lichen, pine trees and conifers. it was a great way to spend a day in the sun.
next up... utö, a gem of an island.
