after taking the whistler village gondola up whistler mountain we then decided to cross from peak to peak... but only after i took in some fresh air since the gondola ride made me nauseous and i wasn't too eager to get onto another one. the peak to peak took us from whistler mountain to blackcomb mountain, 4.4km away. it is the world's highest lift of its kind, 1427ft above the valley floor. happily the ride was so much smoother.
once there we hiked through alpine meadows - wildflowers everywhere, the views stunning - and ended up at blackcomb lake, at an elevation of 6293ft. we took a dip in the lake, well, to be more accurate kai is the only one that took a full body dip, it is a glacier lake and it was freezing!
our hike left us wanting more... next time we want to hike a longer trail as the three of us enjoy a good hike, especially when no bears are spotted... just a couple of grouse.
after some dinner and gelato in whistler village we headed to our yurt! it wasn't cozy like these but compared to setting up a tent and sleeping on the ground, it was pretty nice and would stay in one again. kai thought it was cool.
the next day was spent at lost lake. such a pretty little spot to bask in the sun, build sand castles, and swim. we hiked around the lake on a previous trip and would be worthwhile to do so again by bike as there are many trails leading to more stunning views. but for this trip, lounging suited us perfectly.
hope your weekend was equally wonderful.
